Overnight parking in Elkhart, In. ?

My wife and I will be heading to Elkhart, In. after our Winnebago rally at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, N.Y. The trip to Elkhart is some 617 miles from Verona and it is a ten hr. drive. I thought about the "drive 300 miles. In by 3:00 p.m." rule of thumb and thought that we could stay at a CG along the way and cut down on our driving time. But then we'd lose a day in traveling and I'd rather not do that.My vacation time is limited.
So, if we drove directly to Elkhart is there an all night parking place available to us? I have just now checked my Allstays app and have found eight overnight Walmarts but they all seem to be very far from Elkhart.
Is there a Cracker Barrel ( those I haven't looked for) or any other suggestion that we should look into?
Thanks a bunch!

There are two Walmart Supercenters in Elkhart. Google those.

Thanks topdownman! I have just now called them and a woman answered the phone ane when I inquired about them allowing overnight parking she said they did! Just so long as we don't park out back or on the side where the truckers make their deliveries. She wants us out front. That's fine by me!
Sheesh, so much for my "updated" Allstays phone app. It had 8 Walmarts with permissible overnight parking listed and none were in Elkhart.
Now I just have to convince my wife to spend our very first night in Walmart!

Walmarts are great. We use them often, just remember to do some shopping!

I've not been satisfied with Allstays published info for years. It doesn't seem to be kept updated. There's been many times the site stated the WM did not allow overnight RV parking & upon calling I found they did. I end up Google-ing the city, finding the locations & calling the stores.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

If you have an Apple or Android phone or tablet, suggest you purchase the Allstays "Camp and RV" app. I believe it is about $10. From what I can see, it consolidates all Allstays relevant info to RV'ers in a single app. Mine shows there is a Walmart with overnight parking just S of I-90 off Indiana 19. The real value of the app to me is going to the satellite view and checking access before I get there. You will also see - in the Satellite view - if there are trucks and/or RVs parked there. You will find this in stores designated as "no overnight parking" and their presence tells me that things have changed or are not enforced. You will also see numerous RV parks near I-90 in the Elkhart area in the app. After becoming familiar with this app, I'm sure you will be convinced - as I am -that it is the best $10 you spend RV'ing!

Yeah I see two Elkhart Walmarts in the AllStays app just fine, successful parking reports and all. Not sure why they wouldn't show in what you are looking at.

I once heard that the stores might be tough to park at if there is a big RV event in the area but otherwise fine most of the year.

There is a Cracker Barrel in Elkhart (Google it) and right near it is a KMart that has a large lot and the manager allowed us to stay there a couple months ago while we were enroute to Middlebury.
We just checked with the store when we arrived. Lots around it and just off the express way, way easier to get to than Walmart and quieter.

I have stayed in the one Wal-Mart South of the Expressway several times. No problem at all,

Try this:

Google the name of the city, like Elkhart, IN. Then when the choices come up click on the map and it will open up. When the map comes up type in the search pane "Walmart" without the quotes. The map will be populated with the Walmarts in that area.

You can use this method for any other items you may wish to locate, like rv parks, restuarnts, etc. It's not perfect, but much better than a lot of the not updated apps.

I like this method. I tried it and it works. Thanks!
