Oxygenics shower head hose problems.

I just got one of these shower heads. has a bulky ball valve ( cost 5 bucks extra ) to turn on and off. My stock shower wand had an on/off right on the wand which was much easier. I think I wasted 29 bucks. Bought it from a vendor at a rally so too late to return it.
I guess there is a requirement that shower heads have to drain for safety reasons, according to the vendor. I think it's through the wand which would mean the shut off should go at the base of the wand.
One of the biggest problems I feel is with the hose. It is so unflexible. Like a water hose left outside near freezing , it's that stiff when warm. I wonder if it can be changed. Edit to add: I tried to fit the factory hose from my coach, to the vendor supplied ball shut off valve and it won't fit but the factory hose will fit the Oxygenics wand. The hose on the Oxygenics will thread on the ball valve with no problem.
I may have to go back to the original unit. I got the oxygenics mainly as I boondock and thought it would save water.

We have that shower head in both the stick house and MH. Yes, the tubing is stiffer than some others. I could have used the old hose with the new head too.

Is it common practice to remove the adjustment knob on the Oxygenics to put in an on off valve instead?
I will go to HD tomorrow and see if I can find a different on off valve. Maybe that will be better.

Since I winterized now, I can't do much with water. Do the showers drain at the cold hot valve assembly or do the shower heads drain? I'm guessing at the mixer assembly which would mean I'd be better with the on off valve at that end?

The salesman told me the shower (not an Oxygenics.. yet) in this motor home would hvae a cut off valve and guess what.. After I went to home depot and bought and installed one... It does.

You can use any shower hose with that head, standard thread, nothing special. That said.

I get the distinct feeling from the times I have used one that is is an interuppter, that is it creates it's effect by shutting off and turning back on at a fairly rapid rate.. A cheap hose might "object" to that by bursting and leaking.. I do not know.. I do not THINK it will but I've not been able to test that theory.

We used our old hose and installed a simple on-off valve instead of the one that came w/ the showerhead. Works great.

I own 2 Motorhomes and have them on both. I used the original hose on both and added a inline shut off bought from Home Depot on both. I Boondocks alot and they work really good and they work twice as good as the shower wand that came with them.

We bought our Oxygenitics shower head 6 years ago at a rally in Colorado and paid $59. I still feel its the best investment we ever made in our MH. Many of our friends are buying them today at $29.
It does save water and it helps my wife who has very thick hair, get the shampoo out of her hair.
Love it.

We initially bought a shut off valve at HD but when I got it out of the packaging I realized it was plastic and the switch on/off handle was awkward. Found this little all metal piece on the internet. Installed it and havent had a problem since.

Here is a picture of the shut off the vendor sold me. The stock hose will not fit on it. Fits on the shower wand but not the shut off so it's the fault of the shut off valve. I'll get a new one that uses the sliding bar/button that can be operated one handed.

I have no shut off on the oxygenics . According to the directions the twist thing is a flow regulator. LOL I just now read the directions.......

My OEM has the shut off built into the wand.

Yup that's the one we got. Simple to operate with one finger.

Got the push button style in HD. They are under the shower head display and not in the plumbing parts aisle. They do have a handle style in the parts aisle.

Installed it inbetween the Oxygenics wand and the Oxygenics flow regulator/controller.
OEM hose fit on now and because the stop valve is shorter it now fits in the OEM holder without wedging against the ceiling.
I will have to wait to try it out until January.

I showed the guy at HD the stop valve I bought at the vendors and he tried it and came to the conclusion it was a different thread. It did work with the Oxygenics hose though. At any rate I would have ended up changing it for the push button style anyway so it all worked out.
