Passport America - 50% off campground fees works for me

In searching IRV2.com a little I see there have been a number of threads and posts about this campground discount program. I haven't come across much in the way of a comprehensive report about it, however. I'm not saying it isn't there, just that I didn't find one. So I wrote one and stuck it up on my blog.

In short, I've found it very worthwhile. If it is worthwhile or not for a particular person depends on whether or not they use it, and that depends on how often, where and when they go RVing.

I haven't seen much written about the other things Passport America members get discounts on so I've included that in my blog post too.

If you're considering a membership in a campground discount program my blog post may save you a lot of time hunting here and there only to find tidbits of info about PA. My blog, RussOnTheRoad also has campground and product reports, great photography and photo tips as well as interviews with some of the people I've met on my trip, now in it's 6th month. It's all free, of course, and if you like the blog you can enter your email address there to get notifications when I make new posts.

Find my Passport America report here.

We belong, and recoup the membership dues in a few months. One just has to remember that each participating CG sets their own rules for participation.

We have used our's a few times, but those few times as paid for the membership. I just renewed for 5 years and got 6 years of membership. This reduced the yearly cost even more.

We have PA & have had it since we started camping in 2010. It has saved us plenty of $ over the years. I have their app on my phone which is kept updated with any new cgs or ones that are no longer part of the program. When we start planning our trips, I look at PA to see where cgs are along our route. I check the restrictions - some cgs only accept PA certain days; some only certain parts of the year. Once I see a cg that will work with our trip I then check out the reviews on the park. As long as we keep using our RV & PA keeps cgs in its program, we'll keep our membership going.

I have a life membership from a few years ago and do use it unless it takes me way off my route or it happens to be blocked out for the weekend or special events. I do think it is worth the money I paid.

I've found to ask for the discount, even if all or part of your stay is outside the published dates. Often it will be allowed. The CG would rather have 50% instead of 0%. Costs nothing to ask.
