I'd say it's worth it overall. As mentioned, campgrounds don't join PA because they're overflowing with business and they usually aren't top tier, but in most cases still a good deal at the discounted price. Also there are often many restrictions/conditions to deal with. If it were much more than $44 then it might be questionable, but at that low price you can almost always at least make the membership fee back and anything beyond that is gravy.

Wink

We have been on the road for 32 days and 4,600 miles on this trip. Have used PA 7 times with good results having saved more than double its cost. Will probably use it another 6 or 7 times before we get home in July.

We bought for our Alaska/Canada trip last summer and used it enough to more than cover it's cost .

We use it and we love it! We saved $86.00 our first year of using it! The book they send you is great for when you are on the road and you just want a quick overnight spot. (I am not "app" savy so I don't use the phone to find campgrounds). It is true that in some areas there are not a lot of PA parks available, but when you save $20.00 in an area that offers a lot of PA campgrounds it makes it all worth it!!

To me, there are no con's to the program if you do a little research first.

If you're buying a 1 year membership, look where you're planning to travel during that year. If there are parks you can use the discount at during that time, it'll pay for itself very quickly. My 3 year membership paid off more than it's cost my first time out with it.

Sure, each park has it's restrictions, but as long as you're aware of them and go outside of those restrictions, you're coming out ahead.

A con would be the "compulsion" to drive 20 miles out of your way to get to a PA campground where you save $10.

We have it. We use it. We like it. doesn't always work well with emergency or no planning but hey for the low membership fee what does one expect. We like it and will continue to use it.

Just another thing I would like to add. The app is great. Maps the state or give you the city!

I like the App because you can quickly click on Map and instantly see what's coming up on your intended route and make plans well before you get to that area.

We've been using PA for the last 4yrs., primarily use it for overnighters when on the road. It's more than paid for itself.

PA pays for itself many times over each year! The downside is that most CG's that accept it will only give you one or two nights on PA.

Now PA, Good Sam and C2C are all together.
PA still gives 50% off
Good Sam gives 10%
C2C depends on what membership you have.

Canada has very little of any and all of these parks.
