We are new to camping with our travel trailer, but so far every campground host we have encountered has been super nice and friendly. We haven't had any negative issues with any campground host. We like that most of them are pretty savvy about general camping questions, and even know some good tips for local diners/restaurants etc.

In state parks, camp hosts have a designated number of required work hours. When we volunteered, it was 24 hours per couple. Usually, that meant the most important time covered was weekends. So if you arrive during the week, you may not have any contact with the host because they are not on duty. Most of our camp host contact has been positive. We only ran into one smart a-- and that was last year at a military base in Florida.

"Dog Folks"......You may have stumbled onto something here. Maybe you can start a travelling seminar/course on how to be good campground hosts. Maybe your pleasant attitude will now pay off with a lucrative new RV product!

Camp hosting may be something I'll look into when I retire in 16' or 17'. Been taking mental notes over the last 10 years. Actually have a host application from the state parks of PA. I picked up this summer. Also noticed of the 3 PA. parks we stayed at this summer 2 of the 3 were in need of missing camp hosts. One of the park was missing 2 of it's normal 3 camp hosts. The last few years been asking camp hosts what their duties are and the length of commitment.

I will give you two perceptions of what the camp host is like (Well 3 or 4 actually)

Personally: I tend to get along rather well with the camp hosts, I mean Jim here, Well he is a bit layed back, and .. Different, often a tad confused acting, but hey, compared to the folks who used to call my office (9-1-1) man he's a genius!!. We get along great

Mark, a friend of mine a few sites down.. Does not like him at all. Thinks he is being aggressive and hostile (Take the 1st letter of the two large words and .. Well you have another term which is what Mark actually used, and yes there is a joke that goes with this, but not today).

Other parks I stay at that have camp hosts.. Again we are frinds.. One of them we've taken each other to dinner. One drove me to get a car last year (Alas that turned out to be a bad deal but not the camp hosts fault.. Wife (mine) totaled car 4 days later..totaled herself too 1-car fatal, Tree appeared unharmed)

Generally My perception of camp hosts is great.
