I'm not quite sure what permits and legalities you are referring to, but you do require a passport to enter Canada (and get back into the states, of course). And maybe proof of vehicle insurance and registration of ownership. Sometimes they ask if you are the owner, or ask what your licence plate number is to test you.

I'm not aware of much else, unless you are bringing a firearm, which is a whole new kettle of fish! Otherwise, I can't really think of anything.

I have made the trip before, in a MH with toad, and we will do again in 2017. This time in a smaller TT.
I am not aware of any permits needed for different provinces in Canada.
I will tell you that with that total length and weight you will want to become VERY familiar with the frost heave problems on the Alcan Hwy. Dawson Creek, B.C. To Tok,AK.
When you see a red flag stuck in the shoulder of the road, or heavy black tire skid marks in the road. Slow down, Way down. Under 40 MPH. Some frost heaves will send everything in the rig flying.
My brother has been a campground worker in Tok,AK a couple of times and he said RV'ers unload a lot of broken dishes and even TV's when they get there.

Here is a link that should answer all your questions with regard to border crossing into Canada. Best tip, leave your guns at home. They Will cause you problems if you bring them along.
As is the case in the USA, There are no special regulations to travel between provinces.
Enjoy the ride and the scenery. You will find fuel a bit pricey but with your 30% currency exchange discount, it all works out in the end.

You should get a document that states that you have Canadian liability insurance on your vehicle.
I was not asked for it this summer but have been told you need it in case of an accident.

People have addressed the general procedures for Canada but nobody here has addressed the OP's over-length issue. You need to contact the provincial authorities for correct infomation regarding over-length vehicle permits.

I live in BC and I have never heard of a 'over-length permit'?

That had been true, but for short trips it's not necessary in some provinces....IF your vehicle has a proper registration, inspection and insurance in the States. If you plan on an extended stay you might want to make sure your coverages are about what each province requires. Just like the States they will differ, having a card can save you a lot of grief if you have an A/A.

PS: You might want to pick up a "Milepost" book. It's a very detailed and handy travel book for driving up the Alaska Highway.

I make the assumption that you DO NOT have the rv registered commercial.
Commercial standards would not apply and extremely unlikely to ever be checked. Commercially registered vehicles have a max overall length of 23 meters or 75 feet of which the trailer cannot exceed a length of 41 feet not including hitch length.
These are the current regulations in Alberta and most jurisdictions follow the same across this country.

Either way you are LEGAL.

In Michigan you don't need a passport if you have an enhanced drivers license. I assume all border states have the same thing.

The enhanced license is for returning to the U.S.A.
An enhanced drivers license and the passport card work the same for ground travel through all of North America, and is much less money.

Back to the OP's question: A Google search turned up a length limit in both AB and BC of 23 meters which is slightly over 75 feet. Looks like you are not over length.
