That's not necessarily out of the norm. In my experience Flying J is at or below the average price in the area much more often than they're above.

I use Flying J. Often the other stations that advertise a lower price are advertising a cash price and the credit card price may be 5 or 10 cents above the advertised price. If you use your FJ frequent fueler card (or whatever it's called) and a credit card at Flying J you get the cash price and the 2 or 3 cents discount. Works for me.
