Hi Elkhartjim,
Several months ago, I registered my card with a cashier at a J. Then I had to wait until yesterday for them to get their programming straightened out so the card would work at the truck pumps.

Thanks Gary. I hope you meant it took them this long to get their programming straightened out not that it takes several months to get it working after registering.

This part is unacceptable to me because my PenFed Visa credits me with a 5% rebate ONLY if I pay at the pump. At current prices, that is between 15 and 20 cents per gallon. I only buy fuel where I can pay at the pump ...normally can at the RV island even if they have the stupid $75 cut-off.

This is why I don't have a carry permit - it would be just too tempting.

Hi Elkhartjim,
You make an interesting post. I've been working with Pilot/J on this for some time. As I reported my failures, at the truck, pumps they changed what was happening with my card. I can not tell you which is true or are both at fault. The bottom line is now it works.

Hi AFChap,
Consider the AMEX Cash Back credit card. Anything I buy at the J gets me 5% cash rebate.

That's good news, GAry. Thanks for detailing the new truck pump procedure, which is different than the RV island and car pumps.

Have used mine a couple times. Worked fine at FJ, but did not get the cash price or discount at Pilot. Also have not received my "points" (whatever they are for, haven't figured that out) at ANY location. Contacted their customer service who seemed to want to help, but nothing has happened. Talked to a Regional Manager, and also nothing happened. Oh yes, I did get a $5 "gift card" . Dick

That cut off is probably set by your PenFed Visa CC.
I have never seen a pay at the pump at the truck lanes that will give a receipt. RV Islands Yes.

PumpStart worked

We went down and back I-75 last week with mixed results at Flying J locations using the RV card at the truck pumps. At two locations, I swiped the credit card first, then it asked for the loyalty card next and it started the pumps and ran up to $150, I repeated the process to finish filling the tank. Didn't have to go inside at all. At other locationns, I swiped the RV card first but it wouldn't accept the cedit card and told me to pay inside. It did however let me fill the tank without stopping, around $230 so that was still easier that going in first. It wouldn't print a receipt at the truck pumps, I didn't check to determine the price I received and I did check my credit card account and all transactions were properly recorded. I hate stopping for fuel so as long are prices are reasonable (Flying J seems to be reasonable based on how busy they are) and it is easy in and out I will use that truck stop.

Hi dennis46c,
It is important to follow the instruction on the screen when using the truck pumps. The process is different than using auto or RV pumps. The second process mentioned in your post seems to be the correct one.

Look at post # 42 in this thread.

Question-- With the new syste when you use the new RV card at truck pumps, after you swipe the card does it display that discounted price on the pump or is it caculated when they complete the transaction. Please answer if you know don't speculate please.
