I agree there is always a place to go when you're done full timing, but will it be a place that you really want to live. My point with California and possibly Alaska is that my property tax is $2200.00 a year. If I sell my house and then buy it back, my property tax would jump to $7500.00 a year and possibly another $50K - $100K in value in just a year. So the decision to sell a house in an area that is popular and someplace you might want to come back to should not be taken lightly.

No...no full time for me....I couldn't all of the junk (tools) that I just have to have.

I worked for L.A County for 34 years and know many firemen and police officers that just couldn't wait to retire and move out of California, only to find that they didn't like the area they moved to and now couldn't afford to move back.

Friday March 7, 2003 I QUIT my high paying job due to Safety Issues.....long on-going issue with idiot new owners.
Monday March 10,2003 I changed my status from 'unemployed' to Retired!!!

I had not turned 50 yrs old. 30 yrs of rotating shift work.....23 with SCE in CA.

Four yrs. later GF retired......before turning 50 also.

We then sold the S&B...estate auctioned ALL belongs that were still there (Family/Friends came got what they wanted)

Hit the road FT traveling. Couldn't get out of CA fast enough!!!

7 yrs later we came off the road .......life changes.
Used proceeds from sell of S&B to purchase new home

New chapter in life. Loving the Verde Valley Area AZ.

Soon to be 13 yrs of retirement...........best part of life so far.
