I have a Fleetwood bounder classic. 34b, pull a tow dolly with a Dodge caravan so it's a little work/planning to refuel... You all know what I mean. If you have a diesel you can pull around back to the truck fuel islands but having a gas rv is more difficult as you have to make sure there is plenty of room to get in and out. Is there some kind of app to let you know what gas stations have adequate room for rvs... There seems to always be issues but you do have to make sure you can swing wider enough to get out, that means using the pump to the right outside and watching for parked cars in front of store.. Any suggestions

Get a copy of "Next Exit" and it will tell you what is available at the next exit on the interstates. Then you can google the address and check it out.

I always start looking for a gas station when my tank gets down to 1/2 tank. That gives me time to bypass a lot of stations that are hard to get in.

Many truck stops will have "RV Islands" that have diesel as well as gasoline pumps you can pull up to. Some of them are easier to maneuver into and out of than others.

Its called Google Earth or Google Maps. Use satellite view and or Google Street View.

I use Flying-J a lot. Most (if not all) Flying-J's have dedicated RV pumps, making the task a lot easier.

If you have a droid, you can download an app that tells you where the nearest Flying-J and Pilot stations are, very helpful. They also give a small discount for Good Sam's members.

If you buy a book called "Next Exit" (about $18) you will see everything that is available, as the name implies, at the next exit. IT even goes as far as to tell you the service stations and which ones are RV friendly. I use mine all the time.

Pilot Flying J has an app called 'My Pilot' that tells which of their sites have RV facilities with gas pumps.

Since we share driving duties, we will normally stop 2 times on a "regular" travel day. We'll try to make one driver change a fuel stop to top off around a 1/2 tank, and have found that rural stations often have much more land and room around the pumps, and often pumps parallel to the road making easier in / outs.

Google earth is your friend, as well as most rural Flying Js.

We also like to top off at the end of the day so we start off full. If we don't see something that looks to be an easy in / out in the last 20 miles, we'll just top off near the campground, and if its tight we can just disconnect the toad and drive it separately the last few miles to the campground (on short travel days, we will just do this).

If we are on a multi day "transit leg" of course we may modify this end of day plan a bit to ensure we don't have to disconnect the toad if we are expecting to stay hooked up overnight.

Thanks everyone.. I'm thinking a little more planning. I try to plan gas stops when I fill up... Not saltwater easy

The satellite view on Google Maps has been extermely helpful for us too! Any time we're stopping somewhere with the trailer, even large parking lots like a Wal Mart (some can be surprisingly tight in more urban areas), it is reassuring to check it out ahead of time.

We don't plan it out too much, but pull it up on our phone once we see signs for the stop.

There is an App called Trucker Path. You define the route and it shows options. You can then drill down with a Google Earth view to see the facilities layout.

We use the Gas Buddy app to identify potential fuel stops. Until recently, we used to then take the address and look up potential fuel stops in Googlemaps - however, fellow forum member Dutch Star Don showed us a better way! You can view stations on a map - as well as drill down further into any fuel station listed. In many cases there's a photograph of the station itself - as well as an open to view it in Googlemaps from within the Gas Buddy app. Googlemaps satellite view will provide a pretty good sense of whether you'll have room to maneuver once you get there.
