With numerous States going into the hole of debt. I would bet dollars to donuts that the high license fees, where the fees are already high, WILL not go down! My Ca plates cost us $1200/year and our new governor wants to move the fee even higher.

Gee know wonder so many license their vehicles somewhere else than Ca.

I use St Brennens Isle in Fl. You will pay sales tax on the purchase price one time, no property tax, no income tax, and your tags for every year are $46.00. You will have to have Fl ins but its a lot cheaper then where you are. In 10 days or so you will have your title in your hand unless its financed. I did this 2 years ago and I don't think they have changed since then. Good luck with whatever you do.

Fee schedule for Florida registration:

Florida DHSMV Fee Schedule

If you have owned your vehicle for six months or less, you will pay the DIFFERENCE between the Florida sales tax and the sales tax charged by the state in which you bought the RV. In Florida, the base sales tax is six percent. If you paid more than six percent, you owe no tax. If you paid less, you will owe the difference.

There is also a $225 new registration fee to pay.

in TN/plates are 24,50 a year although some cities have an additional wheel tax
sales tax is 9.25 but only on the 1st 13,25 then drops to 7
property tax on real estate is also very fair
just a great place to live

To think I was complaining about my FL motorhome tag going from $46 to $66!

I take back everything I mumbled under my breath as I paid up...

I had a bit of sticker shock when I got the first bill for my TT, when I bought it I thought "It's just a trailer. can't be any worse then the 5X10 utility trailer."

When I opened the envelope and saw $450+ I nearly hyperventilated. I was shopping for a fiver and once I had an idea what I wanted first call was to the tag office for an idea, second call was insurance.

I didn't care for either number, but like you said you play you pay.

I think the majority of full-timers use SD or TX, however this website might be useful: Choosing A Domicile State

NH treats it as a house so you pay property taxes..how about 6,000 per year..

Believe you will find that most RVers use FL or TX. No state income tax or over the counter sales tax. unless I am mistaken SD has a state income tax.

We do spend alot of time in S.C any idea what plates cost there. also since I'm new at this. To be a full timer, does that mean you do not have home some where else?
