Pop Up, Lean To, Awning for Front Windshield

Is there such an animal as a front windshield awning? Not attached of course, but something that one can pitch like a tent or umbrella for the front of the bus when parked for a while in full sun? Have run into this problem recently where the sun just bakes the front of the bus and it's a little gloomy to have to leave the black out shades down all day. Would rather have some type of awning structure to put temporarily in front of the rig. Any one have ideas or suggestions?
Thanks
Ed

We use a sun screen that attaches to the inside of the windshield with suction cups. It doesn't provide as much shade as an awning would but it makes a lot of difference in the heat transmitted into the coach.

Hi Ed,
There are covers for the front windshield. Some go on the outside and some on the inside. They are offered by many different manufacturers and in different styles and colors. I use both ex and interior covers by MCD. Go to MCD Innovations to see what they have to offer. You can also GOOGLE "RV Windshield Cover". There are several choices.

Thanks Gary; I've seen these and I may end up with a set, but I was just looking for something that would allow a nice unobstructed view forward while shading the windshield from above... kinda like a cap bib. Guess no one has come up with that yet

Propose that idea to A&E to get them to make a windshield awning. If they bite, ask 'em for royalties for every one sold.

I Ed,
The MCD covers I have (both the inside and outside covers) are see through (from the inside of the coach to the outside). They allow one to have a view and at the same time providing the heat shading needed when facing the sun.

Oh. And you can get some that install from the inside? That would be great to keep doggie nose prints off the windshield too... any idea where I look for those?
Thanks
Ed

Thanks Gary. I called them and they do not have an interior product for the Fleetwood Providence. I guess I'll end up with the ones that attach to the outside. I guess the best place to get them is at an RV rally or show where they have a booth set up. I'm going to the Fleetwood Owners rally in July so maybe I can find them there. Whatever I get has to be really easy to install.
Thanks so much for your help.
Ed

If you would like a windshield sun screen that can be installed without the use of a ladder, check out this website RV Sunscreen | Our Sunscreens, Shades and Covers . I've had mine for several years and they work well.

When you decide on the type of covers remember they also made them for, the door, side windows and also the windows on the side of the slide outs.

We purchased a black interior sun screen a few years ago that used suction cups. We were most unhappy with the product.............windshield gets hot and suction cups release. This past winter we purchased an exterior windshield and side window screen from Prompt RV Screens in Winter Haven, Florida that does not use suction cups and no need for a ladder. www.rvscreens.com
We could not be happier. We did purchase a beige color this time and love it. Seems to brighten the inside of the MH. The people at Prompt RV Screens are wonderful to deal with and offer quick shipping. We did not have to get up on a ladder to measure........... just gave them the model and year of our MH. Check them out......... You will not be sorry!

Per the instructions that came with ours, we make sure the windshield is clean, wet the suction cup with a little water (Not saliva) and stick it on. ours will stay on for months without falling off.
