Thanks Dunner! Good tip, I'm planning on purchasing or fabricating a cable long enough to secure it. Darn shame we even need to do that, but I agree it's a good idea.

Something I thought about today.
Putting the generator on top of a milk crate, if genny isn't to big. Seems like the air flow would be better all around the machine and also seems like it wouldn't collect as much dust.
Good idea?

Home Depot has some really nice vinyl coated ones in different lengths for a reasonable price. I think I have a 30' that I loop thru my sand rail, portable solar panel and the Yammy. They coil up easily for storage.

I cut the bottom out of a milk crate. It's only about an inch high, but is all that is needed and is easy to store. As I posted before, the Yammy gets it's air from the ends.

Don't know if it's really necessary but with the Yamaha 2400is they suggested I run Dino oil in it for the first 15-20 hrs before changing to, in my case, Mobil 1. That was 5 yrs ago.

Good point Dave, Thanks. I completely forgot about that break in period. You're probably right. I checked with the dealer to see if that's still the recommendation.

Picked up a 25' piece of 3/16 vinyl coated cable yesterday. Used the regular u-bolt style clamps. Put JB weld over nuts and threads then wrapped in duct tape. Should do the trick well for securing generator and bikes.
Now just waiting for FedEx to deliver the generator tomorrow. Can't wait to fire that puppy up.

It'll start easier the longer you own it. I was a little embarrassed pulling it so many times at first. It now starts on the first or second pull, even if I run it dry after the last use.

A thought...My opinion, my opinion only... Because of the sporadic use and the fact that I've replaced two chainsaws due to ethanol screwing up small diameter fuel lines and carbs I now use a treatment in ALL of my small gas powered equipment including the genset. Before it turns into a ethanol vs non ethanol discussion let me say I have NO SCIENTIFIC PROOF for my decision and it is based on personal experience only.

you don't need two companions just one for the 30 amp plug.
I bought the companion first so I could use the 30 amp plug, (you do need a 30 amp plug adaptor from MH to genset twist lock) you are limited to 13.6 amps +/- with one 2000 if you need more then pickup the standard one with the cable and plug it into your companion then it has 27 amps +/- to the 30 amp plug.
The one works well with my MH to charge batteries and run the inverter to use TV, vcr, computer. It will not run the AC or microwave (didn't even try to run them LOL).
I think I could run 1 AC or the micro with the second one, but for now I just use the MH genset if I need more power.

late reply... the companion model EU already has the 30 amp receptical versus the standard one that has a duplex outlet. All you need is a $20 parallel cable (and 2 EU2000i) for it to be RV ready.
