Exclamation Possible Camping World Bankruptcy

A heads up:

It has been rumored in the financial press that CW is possibly headed toward bankruptcy. This was posted on CreditMonitorRisk.com which lists CW as a company with a high risk of Bankruptcy.
Thoughts?
Bill

True bankruptcy? I doubt it. Restructuring and closing many stores? Likely.

"It has been rumored in the financial press . . . ." By which one? I am no fan of CW, but posting rumors like this without attribution is irresponsible and a possibly libelous. I request that the moderator delete this thread.

I used to until the owner went on a rant about people just like me and my family. We used to have a Gander Mountain store in our city. Well equipped and managed with fair pricing. it was one of my favorite stores to shop in and buy from. Then the take over. G M was closed for a long while then reopened as Gander Outdoors. The selection was no where near as vast as the former store and the prices increased. I have gotten this information second hand as I swore I'd never darken that owner's business's doorways again.
I hope when the dust settles another large sporting goods store will occupy the current space Gander Outdoors is taking up.
Yes, I do feel badly for the employees. This will be the second uprooting for them in a short while.

I have little trust in what I read in a lot of publications these days. I’m not sure there is an unbiased outfit out there any longer. Just me, I suppose. While I will never buy an rv from CW, they’re pretty handy to pop in when I need some accessory or part when we’re traveling. I’ve yet to find the volume or selection of “stuff” at any rv dealership so far to match it. If I’m home and don’t need the accessory right away then I shop and get it elsewhere usually. They’re pretty handy to have spread around at times. Got too big, too fast, and should have stayed in their nitch it seems to me. I can see the restructuring and downsizing but I’d be surprised at a full blown bankruptcy.

I don't do rumors. That's how rumors get started. Now we're going to have 50+ posts based on a rumor! :((

Gander Mountain went bankrupt. Camping World purchased certain assets in Gander's liquidation and has gone on to rebrand some existing CW locations, and reopen a few old Gander stores as either Gander RV or Gander Outdoors.

As for Mr Lemonis there is plenty to take issue with. I suspect he does some of it for the media attention - free hubris - and maybe he believes it, too. Either way, I prefer to spend my money with other vendors.

Seriously! The OP provided a link to the story. I suppose if it was in the New York Times it would be acceptable as “newsworthy”, even though that publication is bias and not trustworthy. Just quietly move on.

Could we please move all the Camping world threads to their own forums so all the haters can enjoy hanging out together and leave the other 95% to talk about meaningful things instead of having to wonder why people can't just shop or not shop there and move on.
