Post your latest modifications

Did TWO for my coach.

Pic 1 and 2: I bought these black file baskets from K-mart, cut the two stiff wires on the sides and left the two wires on the bottom for support. Pre-drilled and drove a screw to cut threads in them. Then I placed them on both the driver's and passenger's sides. Great place for maps, campground guides and an occasional Twinkie.

Pic 3: What my closet looked like before I....

Pic 4: ....built adjustable shelves. The walls of my coach were thin and flimsy, so I decided to place 1/2" plywood on the sides and drilled holes every 1 1/2" for maximum adjustability. Thought about brad nailing them to the closet walls, but the shelves were cut for a tight (press) fit to keep them in place. And plus, if I decide to sell my coach, I could easily take them out with no difficulty. Pretty cool, and my closet smells REALLY good. (Please excuse the angle of the shot. I had to lie on my bed to get the full view).

Any of you guys/gals have a cheap mod(s) you could share ?

Thanks !

I'm all about the quick and easy modifications that will make RVing just a bit better.

This site was designed to share great ideas, so I hope it does grow some "legs".

New floor covering

I didn't like the rug in my 96 Allegro 28', it was to hard to keep clean with a dog, cat and me shedding and tracking dirt into the rig.

I pulled up the carpet - which was easier than I thought. I didn't pull up the carpet under the couch, I figured who looks under there anyway? I used press down tiles to cover the bare floor. I figure if that doesn't work it won't be a big deal to replace them. So far they are working just fine.

I also pulled out the old TV and I am putting in a door to cover the hole. Now it can be storage space. I use a flat screen TV that I set up above it when I am parked and want to watch TV or DVD.

Here is a link to my blog that has the photos. Kay Julia's Rolling Home Adventures | A blog about my travels in an RV, I guess I'm a Rubber Tramp

PK, I don't know how to post pictures, however, there are several things I had done to our travel traile to make it more user friendly. Took out wall radio, and put in a AM/FM radio with Sirius. Put a rope light around the slide room to use as a night light, put flat screen tv's in both the living room and bed room, fluorescent lighting has replaced all the roof lighting. On the outside, all tail lights and marker lights have been changed over LED lights. I had our local RV dealer install an electric awning, and window awnings. I think part of the fun of having an RV is fixing it up for you.

Yesterday I installed my TST TPMS. I still need to come up with a decent place to mount the monitor, but it works.

Before our last trip, I had different speakers installed for the dash radio. Our Knight had one set of speakers, with a switch to select them from "dash radio" to "Home theater" TV is on the back wall of the salon, useable enroute. The new speakers set into the bottom of the cabinet over the windsshield lets me listen to the radio while my son is watching movies.

Recovered window valances; laminate flooring through galley and bathroom; comfort-height, china-bowl toilet; new tub; new faucets; power mirrors; etc., etc.
The list is perpetual... never ending... never getting shorter... seemingly getting longer

I installed a wonderfully looking (at least in my opinion) chrome pipe on my generator pipe. The bueaty of it all is I made it from a chrome leg off a dinette set that I acquired. With a little balogna cut with the band saw on the curve , a couple threaded holes to hold it on and bingo I'm happy. The DW just smiles and shakes her head.

I picked up this dresser new at a salvage store for $25 because the bottom drawer was damaged. Cut the bottom off and replaced a little used TV cabinet near the door. TV can still sit on top. Mounted a file rack to the side to hold dog leashes and a wall mount for my flashlight. Bottom wood rack holds my campground guide and umbrella.
