posting a private message

I'm kinda new here. From time to time I've come across posts I'd like to respond to with a private message as opposed to a general public posting.
How do I do that?

Left click the users name, and then click send private message.

Just tap on the user's name. The option will be there.

OOP'S I spoke to soon! Tapped on the name as directed and it comes up with

Add to contacts
Add to ignore list

but no private message. I tried a couple other posters and it comes up with
private message in the box . But just not the person I'm trying to contact.
Am I missing something?

Here's what you should see when you click on a name as I did here to your name.




The person you're trying to pm may have his profile set to not allow them. It's an option .
