Yes. Just like they have for the last fifty years. Discreetly. I have it on good authority that they have been consuming alcohol also.

Yeah, just don't do it where the neighbors can see you. In most states where it is legal or decriminalized you still cannot do it in public. Sort of hypocritical since you can't walk down the street drinking but in the campground nobody cares if you have a beer but it is what it is.

My problem with pot is that whenever I stop for gas here in California at least 1 driver will open their door surrounded by a noxious cloud of pot smoke. Wake up folks! It's a DUI! You still can't operate a vehicle intoxicated!

I’m in San Diego and never noticed/ smelled that anywhere. And yes, I remember distinctly what smells like

It’s legal here in SC to drink alcohol, but not openly in state parks. It’s “OK” to do so inside your camper. When they get around to legalizing recreational pot, I suspect it will be the same kind of thing.

Pot

It is illegal to use pot in any public area including state parks. Most ignore this prohibition. Be considerate of your neighbors and you should be fine.

This... Camping at a jam festival smoking is pretty much expected and accepted, Smoking in public areas such as campgrounds and parks where other folks may not share your fondness for weed is encroaching on their space IMO. Personally I get my occasional buzz via edibles. I don't bother anyone and they don't bother me.

So if pot is legal, do we introduce it to kettle? (mental image of spliff and overpriced vodka at the picnic table)

An attorney once told me "discretion is the better part of legality; if one does not make a display of ones indiscretions there is usually no need for authorities to be involved."

And I'm in full agreement about ones indiscretions infringing on neighborly relations, too. Whether odors of specious nature, negative behaviors enabled by self-medication or burning garbage or plastics in the campfire... a little consideration goes a long way.

Sadly, consideration must not be available on Amazon or there are no coupons or discounts available.
