Plus in AZ you pay 9.1% sales tax on new or used from a dealer, no sales tax if private party.

Sales tax + tags for my new Jeep Patriot..........$1955.

Lucky us, we have state income tax, too.

So if you purchase a $100,000 motorhome, you'll pay $7,000 up front in tag/title fees. If you decide to sell it in 2 years, that comes to $3,500 A YEAR that you've paid. I'm not a happy camper....
I failed to mention that in VT we also pay what we call a sales tax one time BUT .... if you sell your MH for $75K after 2 years and buy another one you get to claim a $5250. credit towards your next vehicle. That would reduce your tax paid to $1750. Still not pretty for 2 years but better than $3500 per year. It is just a credit though. You have to replace the vehicle. There may be a time limit to claim it but I just don't recall right now.

I was paying approximately 475-500 year, most of this is just tax on assesed value since the tag itself is $20.00. My brother in law had his Purple Heart tag transferred to his MH and now he pays $1.00, total, no taxes. I did the same thing and now my tag is free for the MH, no taxes nothing. In Georgia if you have a Purple Heart you are entitled to one free tag. This tag can be for any vehicle you have. Since the MH is the most expensive vehicle I have that I buy tags for, it was a no brainer to transfer the tag.

In New York it goes by weight, we pay every two years for vehicles, & every year for trailers.....SO its $264. for two years on the 24' M/H, $210. for two years on the Dodge pick up, and $218 every year for the 5th wheel.

Remember folks, because we have RV's, we must be rich and some states and political parties love to tax, or whatever they want to call it, the Rich!

I think mine here in DFW are around 100.00, but I also have an animal friendly plate which makes it another 30.00.

New registration renewal fees in effect September, 2011 regarding registration so I am not 100% yet.

In Oklahoma the plates are $91.00 per year for 10 years then go down. BUT the excise tax when buying new is3.25% of factory delivered price, this is a one time charge for as long as you own the unit. Oklahoma also has not debt, balanced budget amendment to the state constitution prevents legislature from spending more than they take in. In fact, the excise board will only certify 90% of expected collections for the legislature to spend so most years there is a surplus that they spend the following year.

$15 here in Wisconsin for my TT. Anything over 45' requires a special permit.

Michigan, as was mentioned in an earlier post charges by the so called " $ Value" of the vehicle. My plates were $464. But that included a $10 fee for the state park pass

Okay...add $25 for the state park sticker for your first vehicle and $15 for each subsequent vehicle. It would appear that Wisconsin is a colossal bargain. Let's not tell anyone in Madison.
