Probably a dumb question about surge protectors

I have a progressive Industries surge protector 50 amp model EMS pt50x, and I just need to know if it's okay to have the surge protector plugged into our 15 amp service at our house to charge the battery and have the lights on to get it ready to go camping?

With the right adapters SURE.....

Use it with 15A, use it with 30A or use it with 50A

It isn't checking amperage it is testing voltage/neutrals/grounds and providing surge protection

Thank you, that's what I thought, but just wanted to make sure.

I have talked to so many people who don't even use a surge protector who have been camping forever without issue, but from what I read it just seems to me it is cheap insurance for what could happen.

Camped for 40+ yrs W/O having a 'surge protector'....just never even thought about it

Then getting ready to go FT in our NEW RV and palnning on traveling ALL OVER the USA decided that a good one would be cheaper then possible consequences

During our travels it shutoff on Low Voltage on several occassions, notifed me of reverse polarity issues, loss of neutral issues, Ground issues etc

YEP.........cheap Insurance
I even use it at home where I have FHU Pad. RV is protected but my S&B isn't

At the older private RV park we are at in Arizona, our hard-wired 50amp Surge Guard EMS unit has shut us down every late afternoon for the last week due to low voltage from everyone in the park cranking up their A/C units. With that warning, I turned on our generator in order to run our air conditioners. They could run on the low voltage but it isn't good for them.

I spoke to a number of the people here without EMS protection and they had no idea about the low voltage problems nor the problems it could cause to their RV. I would not be without one installed in the coach.
