We had Progressive for our home and autos for a few years and every year they went up - we went with another company.
When we bought the MH we went with FMCA insurance and ...it was with Progressive, go figure. SO I expected an increase first year, nope, 2nd year, nope. Maybe because of the association with FMCA they don't dare?

I had Progressive for 2 years on the motorhome and then they doubled my rate.
Someone on here mentioned Hartford through AARP. I called them and they were a few bucks cheaper than my old Progressive rate. Yes you have to hold your nose and joing AARP, but it saved me $450. Well worth it.

Lord only knows what goes into their premium calculations.

We started the fulltime adventure with Progressive. After about 5 years they increased premiums to the point others became much more price competitive. With the help of Miller insurance out of Oswego Oregon we ended up with National Interstate. After a couple of years they went out of the RV business and sold their book of business to Safeco. Deal included leaving premium the same for the first year. This year they tried to get a monster premium increase out of me. We too had one claim, also a $60 windshield repair. With the help of Miller once again we ended up - back at Progressive! The annual premium quoted was $1200 less than Safeco.

While a royal PITA, seems annual insurance shopping is the new norm.

I just went with Safeco too. They are ~$300/yr less than Progressive, National General, and some others, for the same or better coverage.

Progressive hikes rate 45%

We insure a Dodge Ram 3500, a Ford Escape, and our Keystone Cougar 5th wheel for $120/ month with Geico.

I just signed into my Safeco online account. The header says "Safeco Insurance, a Liberty Mutual Company".

Progressive Rate Hike

Just got off of the phone with a Progressive insurance rep about my rate increase for my motorhome coverage. When I finally got to talk to a human, the policy coverage was discussed. First on the list was the "value" of the MH, and I was instructed to view the declaration page of the policy. On that page was listed the initial cost of the MH--nowhere was there a "value" listed. The MH is now 4 years old and obviously has depreciated in value. I was told that it was my responsibility to keep them informed as to the current value. The cost of the policy was still being calculated on the basis of the original cost--and no, the rep would not admit that if it were totalled, certainly one would not be reimbursed on the basis of the original cost. At my insistence a new renewal notice is being generated reflecting the current value of the unit. It seems to me that this in itself is a scam. The insurance company certainly knows that a 4 year old MH is not worth the same as if it were new. They certainly would not cover the vehicle as a new unit.................Rockaway, 2014 Tuscany XTE

My Safeco went up 25% this year. They said it was due to Hurricane Harvey claims (I live near Houston). That rate is still half of what progressive quoted me.

Our Safeco rate also went up 25% and we're no where near Texas. Ended up saving one third by changing back to Progressive - who we left three or four years ago after a similar increase attempt. I don't get it.

There are enough people that just pay the bill without questioning it or shopping that they can get away with it.

Have had Progressive for 3 years. Rate went up 3% over last year to $1073/year. Zero deductible on glass. Useful if you have a Winnebago windshield.

When Pammi and I got married in 2000, we both went with Gieco. Great coverage. We even added her son when he turned 18 and started driving.
However, he got into some thing no parent wants their kid to get into, and stopped paying his share. Geico wouldn't let us drop him until he had proof of insurance elsewhere!
I'd never heard of this before, so we switched to Liberty Mutual. Without Les. Sorry, man.
Everything was fine and dandy, until we got our renewal notice and it had gone up 45%!
Whoa. WT!?!?!
I called them up and they said that I'd gotten a reckless driving ticket and it was worth 5 points and that was the reason.
Excuse me? I'd gotten a careless driving ticket 18 months prior to this, and it's only a 3 point ticket.
Nope. I was wrong and they were right and didn't want to talk about it.
I called our local State Farm representative, seriously less than a mile from the house!
They said that it was only a 3 point ticket, but, let's see what we could do with them.
I wound up saving $45 a month with them, even WITH the 3 point ticket!
Now, getting Liberty Mutual on the phone to cancel my policy was a whole different story.
I finally told them that I needed to make a change, as opposed to telling them I wanted to drop them like a hot potato!
5 minutes later, and I was through with them, although they did try to charge me a $25 cancellation fee.
Yeah. Good luck with that!

I'm 70 and had a total windshield replacement $1200.00 to them, no charge to me and my bill is still the same. State Farm
