I have no problems with what a campground charges or their restrictions. But post these charges and restrictions on the website so I can determine if I want to stay there. I never book a RV park without completely reading their website and reviews. If I see something objectionable I do not book with them. A campground is a business and a business can charge any price and have any restrictions they choose. But I as a consumer also have the right to be informed of these prices and restrictions prior to reservation/purchase. If I find their prices or restrictions objectional I have the option of not purchasing their product.

Hipshot,
What do they have to loose by hitting RVers with added charges. If 50% stay after the hidden charges are presented, they are that much ahead, instead of not getting that 50% by posting the gouging on their website.

A quick read of this thread I did not see this: Some CG just do not have the wiring to handle all sites using near max loads. I have seen my volt meter drop into the red zone often during peak load times when CG's are full. Not a good excuse but I would be sure to monitor your voltage.
I also have been charged extra for electrical hookup and then have a early evening thunderstorm knock out power and no refund

Vote with your gas-pedal foot. Unless there's a VERY good reason for putting up with that kind of gouging (like it's 23:00 when you check in or there isn't another CG for 100 miles) don't let them get you.
We've gone to CGs that have very vaguely defined dog breed restrictions in the TL book only to find they don't take more than one dog and don't allow dogs heavier than 20 pounds. With (at that time) two Labs, we just drove away.
FYI, we couldn't call to check because we had Virgin Mobile/Sprint cell phones and we couldn't get a signal.

Do I understand what I read about Texas & electricity meters? My understanding is that the state got involved on how much RV parks can charge as electricity resellers. Seems that there should be a limit on how much RV parks can charge for electricity above what they are charged by the local elec. company.

If they advertise 30A or 50A, then you should be able to use it when you need it, i.e. the heat of summer. I'm not saying to use all of it, but when needed, it should be available to use.

I have read that some parks are planning to offer electric hookups for car recharging (think Chevy Volt or the Nissan Leaf), as it is an in-place infrastructure and could potentially become a cash cow and lucrative income stream for CG owners. Perhaps these new restrictions have something to do with that?

Being as cynical as I am, my bet would be that they would be subsidized by the gov't for providing recharge facilities, yet still charge top $.
