Propane Prices

I was going to add this to a previous thread, but unfortunately it's closed. I just got back from filling our LP tank on the motorhome. I took it to the local distributor and got some interesting information.

By taking the coach in and having it filled at their depot I was charged $2.90 per gallon plus sales tax. When I asked the cashier if the price had come down recently she said NO, it's been the same since November 19th.

I proceeded to ask why there was so much in the news about the rising prices of Propane. She told me the price of DELIVERED Propane changed almost by the hour. It had been as high as $7.00 per gallon last week and was currently at a little over $4.00 per gallon. The price of propane purchased at the depot hasn't changed a dime in 3 months. Go Figure.

Propane is not a significant cost. I filled up in Prescott, AZ in November for $1.67. Still over 1/3 left.

As I see it, propane is the smallest utility expense unless you are winter camping.

In Yuma, it is the electricity cost, but still minor in the face of all else.
