I have 2 Amazon accounts the second account I rarely use but exists because the other acct is shared with family.
I see a charge from “Audible Adbl.CO/Bill NJ” $16 in my bank acct. I immediately think it’s a fake charge and my cc was compromised. Then I find that Audible is part of Amazon and people are reporting unauthorized Audible subscriptions being enabled without them doing anything.
I took a long shot and contacted Audible. Confirmed that somehow even though I haven’t been in the account for weeks that somehow according to Audible I accidentally enabled a Gold subscription. Then the rest of the process was like pulling teeth. First a had to get them to cancel it, then I had to spell out that I wanted a refund, finally she said she would remove the cc info.
Of course the woman from a call center outside of the US can’t grasp why I would think this was a concern because she is sure I did it on accident.
So now to change the PW and remove CC info from that acct. You can’t see the charges through Amazons website. I guess you would have to have the Audible app installed, which I don’t. I swore off Audible 10 years ago when I tried a trial and cancelled and they kept billing me.
Thinking about callling the local news stations, they love to make this stuff public. Probably turn into a class action lawsuit.
Anyway, check your accounts and keep an eye out.
