Chef2006:

Consider the following extended run 6 gallon tank on Ebay to go with your new generator:

Honda EU2000I Generator Extended Run 6 Gallon Fuel Tank System Read First | eBay

I purchased the one that has hoses for TWO generators. 6 gallons plus the onboard .9 gallons will run ONE generator in eco mode for almost 69 hours! Or full out for about 42 hours.

Good advice above on securing the generator and fuel tank though. I use a cable lock if using on the ground. On the travel trailer I built a box on the back that held both generators, hinged to swing out of the way in order to get into the basement storage, and vented to outside. Also installed a 110v small vent fan that pressurized the box forcing providing fresh combustion/cooling air, and ensuring that all the exhaust gasses vented outside! Really slick setup. Unfortunately, then I bought the extended run 6 gallon tank . . . . had to place that under the camper, but secured with a chain or cable. No more getting up in the middle of the night to add fuel when the generator ran out of fuel and my CPAP died!

Would I be safe in assuming that these are all for TT? I have a Class A HR with an Onan generator which needs major work. PO tried to by pass the switch board and straight wire it. Estimates of around a Grand to fix it. Could/would it be cheaper to replace it with one of the above? I would be concerned with ventilation while driving down the highway. Overheat and catch fire. ????? Some have said be best to keep the Onan and have it repaired.

Just left the Quartzite area and from what I saw the prices were not that favorable. Yes they had alot of things avail but the pricing didn't jump out to make me want to buy anything that I couldn't wait for and buy at home and have the convenience of returning to the store if a problem occurred .

My genie still works great. If I needed to buy one I would go Honda ,Quite, easy starting.
I'm in Quartszite and bought some items in the tents and was told if I paid in cash I didn't have to pay taxes. Saved $9.00. Not sure if that was legal or not. Is It?

Did they give you a receipt that showed state tax paid?

Legal for you as it is the retailers responsibility to collect and pay sales tax. That being said, unless the retailer was selling "tax included" he is breaking the state law if he does not forward appropriate sales to the state.

We sell artwork at art shows, and many times if the buyer pays via cash or check, we will "include the sales tax" That means we avoid the 3.5% credit card charges and assuming the state tax rate is say 6%, we in effect discount the item by 2.5% to make the sale. (actually slightly less of a discount since including the tax effectively lowers the "sales price" slightly)

We are STILL required to pay the state sales tax however.
