Purchasing advice

On my way home this year my rig burned down to the ground while driving home, luckily I got my dog out along with myself and managed to cut my towed car loose from the dolly. At that point I was pretty down and thought I was done with it all but bow find I have no place to go and I slept in a few hotels and I could scream.

I am 75 and looking to start over. I'm looking to spend no more than 25k.
I use the rig for 4 or 5 months of the year as I spend winters driving south and usually park it till I'm ready to go back home.
I imagine I will buy something after September and have a budget of 1,000 a month for maintenance and repairs.
I park at a storage place that I can sleep over occasionally without hassle.
The last rig I had, a 24 foot class C with a Ford 460 ran perfectly and started always as I had a 15 volt solar panel keeping the batteries charged and over the 5 years of ownership I repaired and replace anything and everything that needed work. TV, matresses curtains, fridge, roof work, I basically only changed oil. The rig basically sat 8 months a year so my question is gas or diesel? I drive 2500 miles a year so fuel prices are of little concern but want easy maintenance. I think I'd like a 30 footish class A. I would rather spend money on comfortable furniture than a generator and fancy gadgets.
I also keep my rig 75 miles away from me.
Thoughts suggestions, opinions are all welcome.

It is going to be a whale of a challenge to find any class A that is "turnkey ready" within that price limitation... Your best option would be to limit yourself to searching for a gas powered rig that size/length me thinks.....Altho I have come across a DP or two within that price point but they were in the 34' to 36' length and 20 years old or older... but are rare if not needing a full refurb.
good luck

<edit> I did find one within your price range in good shape and sending you a PM

Saddlesore, thanks for the reply, the Foretravel is a beautiful rig and me being in NY and the rig being in N Mexico besides travel costs getting out there and taxes it looks like 30k and then possible repairs. Also the interior is very depressing. As I also said I don't need half the things the rig has and I'm solo.

If I were you I would search for a vintage Bluebird. They are getting down in that price range and many have been lovingly cared for.

Try www.buybyebluebird.com to start then Craig's list.

The one I suggested is a "turn key" unit.. ('94 base/entry level 270 series Grand Villa (non slide) For under $25k.

ie: propane heat & water with a good leveling system and one piece fiberglass roof & 2 A/C's

solidly built, but the pic's did not do the coach justice IMHO.

But on the other hand it is a 36' and he wants to stay at 30' or under so a gas rig is all that may be available within his price point.

I think a class A gas or a class C gas is going to be the ticket.

Sure sorry for your loss! At least you're OK so that's a lot to be thankful for!

I would go to RVTrader.com and search based on price, size, etc. That will give you a good idea of what's available within your budget figure.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Airstream

You can get a nice Airstream which will last forever under your required budget from the 70's, 80's 90's...and many have been refurbished, remodeled and repaired. Vintage

MSHappy camper, that was my 300th post and I've been on this site 8 years but thanks for the warm welcome.
I thank all for their replies, I do not need a turnkey rig just something without needing water intrusion issues as I can deal with putting in water heaters and deal with plumbing. As I drive 1200 miles 2 times a year a a generator is not needed, I camp in the winter so one main awning is sufficient.
Just looking for a solid body and a livable interior. I prefer cloth over leather and I like putting down oriental runners over wood.
Thanks for all the replies and I will keep looking.
