Québec park - boil water one minute?

Last night we camped in an RV park outside Quebec. There is added sign on the water post saying don't drink the water unless you boil it for one minute. There are many seasonals here.

Have you ever seen these signs in Quebec or other parts of Canada?

I was surprised.

I only noticed the sign after I had added about 15 gallons. So I added about 2 teaspoons of 8.25% bleach, to help a little in the now 2/3 full 55 gal freshwater tank.

We don't drink the water, just shower and wash dishes and hands with it. But even showering a bit can go up your nose.

I will probably dump the fresh and refill with better water later in the trip.

Not in Quebec, (or in Canada), but last February I saw signs like that in an Ocala National Forest campground in Florida.

Most of Newfoundland and Labrador.... being so rocky they get a lot of their water from surface sources vs drilled wells. ST
