Quartzsite, anyone there in Feb?

My wife and I will be traveling through Quartzsite in mid February. We plan on staying a couple of days. We have never been there so I wanted to reach out to the forum and see if any members would be there at that time. I also wanted to see if anyone could give us an idea of where we should start looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights. We don't want to do an RV park.

I was there for one nite last Feb and the place was deserted. Just pull off the road anywhere. The "parks" that I saw were pretty dreary looking...I have not been there during the Big Event.

This is the area a lot of boondockers park in Quartzsite. South on Hwy 95 a couple miles then left on a well maintained gravel road. Google Maps GPS: 33.613588, -114.204250 If you zoom in you can see hundreds of RV's!

The swap meets will still be there in Febraury. It's not a festive time as it is mid-January but there will be others there.

Scadden Wash is probably the most east-to-get boondocking place so you might want to give it a try. It's free for 14 days and is just off I-10 and east of Hwy 95. Drive along the south frontage road and park it. Good for a couple nights.

Hello Tim! What park/resort are you staying in out there? How has the weather been so far for your first winter out west?

Resort in Quartzsite? Probably a play on words. Quail Run RV park is probably one of the best park. It is rather new and well kept.

Long term stay at any park is very reasonably. Some as low as $200 per month. Keep in mind most everything out there is rock. A few shrubs.

This week was the time to be there due to the large RV show. The Rock & Gem shops are open year round-the antiques and flea area probably there most of February.

Hey palehorse89
I thought you stayed here last year didn't you? Quail Run
Although its my first year as a snowbird its not my first trip outwest I drove tractor/trailer for 2 1/2 years and 99.9% were out west. Mostly Cailie or Washington and a few Yuma's.
Its been chilly had lots of frosts but didn't freeze any pipes. Daily temps have been upper 50ties low 60ties. This week we have been close to 70ties. Back home 10-15 below...
I'm going on what I read on DesertUSA. It's all what you make of it and so far so good, A little warmer would be nice.
I thought this was spose to be Desert? So far we have been too Blyth Ca,Parker, Lake Havasu, Yuma, Tucson, Phoenix even took the caddie out into the desert (we think it was desert)
What are you guy's doing?
Tim
