Question Question about a title for my truck Camper.

I bought this Camper from a guy that never paid sale taxes on his new camper. He got a certificate of origin for a vehicle from Host Industries. Is this like having no title? Can I sell this without a title?

Thanks.

Talk to your local DMV. Each state is different some no title.

Are we talking the truck, or a slide in truck-camper. The slide-in unit isn't a vehicle and doesn't have wheels, so why would it have a DMV title?

At any rate, a "Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin" is the document used to obtain the first title for a vehicle. It's a document required by the federal gov't to certify where a vehicle was built and whether it conforms to federal safety specs. You should be able to use it to get a title if one is needed, but questions may be raised as to why it wasn't done long ago if the state actually requires it. Of course, if it was originally sold & used in a non-title state, that would be a good reason.

2005 Slide-in Host Bachelor Truck Camper

My local Tennessee DMV has told me I don't need a title for this camper and I hope they know what they talking about. Need a website to see what is taxed and what is not for Tennessee. Found out the guy bought this from N.C. dealer did pay sales taxes on the camper 1895.00 on a 27,083 new camper. This camper was mainly used in Florida before moving to Tennessee.

That's a slide-in and is treated as a truck accessory by DMV. It's not a vehicle and therefore does not get titled or registered in any state.

Here in WA they are required to have a license plate separate from the truck so I would assume they also require a title.

Again it depends on YOUR state DMV and YOUR state's laws. Some require a title some don't, some want a license tag or plate, some just a bill of sale or some indication of ownership.

Found out Tennessee considers this truck camper as cargo. No need for title and license plate.

Thanks.
