Question about registering a TT

Hi,
Just got a travel trailer. The previous owner had it about a year and never registered it. They had the title which was signed by the previous owner but they never signed or dated it. I've got the title and a bill of sale from the person we got it from but now I'm wondering if that will be an issue registering it since they never had it retitled in their name. I'm in CT but any suggestions would be helpful

It could be a mess or quite painless. If you have the correct documentation and get the right agent it could be OK.

I do not believe that it would have to be registered to pass through another owner. I guess the think is to ask the registry and see if they have any issues.

I agree .... take what you have to your DMV ... they'll let you know if there's an issue.
We had the same situation when we bought our trailer ... got it registered without an problem .....

Whats stopping you from having the title signed directly over to you? If the second owner never put a name on it, that space is all yours. All you need to do is have the "titled owner" sign a bill of sale.
(wink wink)
Most DMVs are only looking to get their share of registration fees and sales tax. I actually had one agent tell me she "thought she saw the original owner in the parking lot" and I should go grab his signature on one of the forms i needed.
As said, it all depends on the agent.

I've been away from the site for a few days and totally forgot to update this. The registration went seemless. Surprisingly enough I was in and out of the DMV in less than 30 minutes.
