Questions for anyone that has used CANADA CAFC 909

I wish to carry 2 long guns through Canada to Alaska and back. I found Canada's Non-resident firearm declaration form 909 and am filling it out. Question 6 wants to know the reason for bringing firearms into Canada. Do I check both In transit and protection against wildlife or just one? I know there is a second sheet to the 909, do I need to fill it out even though I am only bringing two long guns in? I know that I need 3 copies of the 909, do I need any other forms?

I've always went with "In Transit" as all my trips through Canada have been either leaving Alaska for the lower 40 or returning to Alaska from the lower 48.

Agree. Just check the 'In Transit" since you're going on to AK. Do not mention(verbally) personal protection from the human kind...they just don't want to hear it. You need cable / trigger locks for both firearms and make sure you bring all your documentation with you should you be asked to enter the office. Once inside the office, they will not let you back into the coach to get any paperwork and will more than likely raise their level of interest and possibly give them an excuse to do a search...don't ask. As for other documentation(mainly, pets), it all depends on the agent as to what they may or may not ask for, but whenever guns are involved, they sometimes take a little harder look. It also depends on what's going on with the world as well...different levels of attention.

No other forms are needed - the 909, cable/trigger locks and with $25.00 CAD, you're good to go. Bob

MY first trip through I had to go inside to get the form and they let me return to the MH so I could get the S/Ns of the firearms.
