eandy, these generators must be for the european countries and those that use 50 hertz and 230 volt power. Her in the states the needed frequency is 60 hertz and most RV will need 120 volt; the 50 amp units will need 120/230 volt but still 60 hertz. You may want to check to see if they are making an American version. Good luck and let us know what you find.

They are having a sale on the Quiet as Human Speech (58 Db) Honda Generators at Camping World, according to the flyer I read last night.

Hi Wiz & Neil,
Wiz, I see from your past posts you're in the constr trade. I'm an old timer in design and build. So old I learned arch when the scope included structural and span load (pre engineer in res), and bill of mat. You probably know few places get 120-240 anymore inc Europe. We actually get 115-235 which is why newer appliances are mfg to run on less volt. Smaller candy bars higher prices. I was doing a quick look at Dometic gens- surprised they made them. I'll call them when time allows. Notable is the engine they use is Honda. Only 4db louder than the smaller sold at CW etc. The smaller are appealing but the kit to link 2 is only for 2k units when we need 2-4k to replace our "wake the dead" gas gens. The price is also difficult. Also when I call I'll ck suggested ret. The site doesn't brag price. BTW, fortune fell on me this wk in the form of a serious inside connect at the bank to link me w/repo dept for New Mex. I'm joining the exodus out of looney land next month. I could be thinking of designing an rv w/o all the probs most others have landed on their buyers. Not rocket science to design a chassis just a lot of research to do one w/o all the inherent flaws of a pair of u-beams. Stay tuned this is FUN!

Much of the noise in a genset is from the AC generator component rather than the engine - that's why all the quiet models are inverter types, e.g. the Honda eu2000i. No high RPM ac generator spinning, so much less noise.
Diesel generators are also quieter, cause their engine is runnning at much lower RPMs and the extremely heavy engine block absorbs most of the vibration that creates noise in a small gas engine.

Right Roamer. I've also considered vibration noise. The way mine is crammed onto rack there is no room to unbolt, lift with floor jack and slip in some heavy neoprene strips to cushion. I called Generac early on about noise and they acted like I was the only one displeased. I asked them about adding another muffler and was told other owners have done that but warranty will be void if engine was damaged due to over heating. I went ahead and found a new free Harley 833 muffler and put it on. No quieter but now I can add a Harley badge to rig!!
So now I will find a quiet gen to replace this when I can write it off full price as a backup home gen. Gotta love it!
