Radio Swap

I have a 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire. I would like to change out the standard Chevy radio. It does not have usb and Bluetooth. Would a newer model of that kind of radio have the upgrades, or do I have to buy an after market radio?

Most every dash radio is installed into a single DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung) or double DIN opening. Single DIN is 50mm high, 180mm wide, (2-1/8” by 7-1/8”) Double DIN is 100mm high (4-1/4"), 180mm wide. Some GM vehicles use 1.5 DIN, but adaptor plates to mound a single DIN in that opening, or a Single DIN in a Double DIN space.

The sky is the limit as far as features and models, don't feel constrained by what you have at present. Much better audio can be found at better price than a manufacturer's rebranded unit. Most audio shop/installers can sell adaptor plugs to match a new unit to the old plug or wiring harness. All the wires are usually logically color labeled, so wiring shouldn't be a challenge.

My 2002 Windsor is on it's 4th radio of the same brand. I had special connections in the back for both the 10X CD changer and the remote control pod in the bedroom that I wanted to maintain so I just got on line and found a replacement. The last change has lasted about 4 years so hopefully it will last the duration.

Mine did have a USB port for a memory stick which provides for a huge amount of storage, I have +75 albums saved on the stick so we can drive for a long time without listening to the same tune.

Bluetooth is a wonderful thing! My playlist goes with me wherever I take my phone and when driving it pauses the stream or MP3 when a call comes in. Call comes over the speakers and a tiny mic near the visors handles my voice. When call ends song resumes.
