I use zip wax - suspect anything you normally wash car with would work fine - avoid anything with ammonia as it will strip off the red max.

Applying the finish

This is great information. One point I am not clear on: when you apply the RMP or ZEP, whether by hand or using the long handle, do you apply in a back-and-forth motion, like if you were mopping the floor, or is it by one swipe, then another, without back-and-forth, going in one direction only?
