Been with USAA for 38 years and with credit score well north of 800. Had with them considerable sum IRA and cash. Several cars and houses financed through the years with USAA. Their ad 6 months ago for new car loan .9, but with my credit score I could only get 3.9. Screw them I paid cash. Since then I have removed all of my cash and 50% of IRA. Will continue moving money until all they have remaining is my checking and current CD's. They made a huge error trying to screw me.

Another mistake they made in last year was credit card had to be cancelled due to number compromised. Was in 3rd day of 6 week trip and asked for new card to be sent to my brothers address since I would be there for a few days. No problem they say, but guess where the credit card was sent. Yep, set on my front porch for 5 weeks in Fedex envelope.

IMHO they have lost their way in the past 5-10 years. All the TV and print ads along with sponsorship of football has to be paid for by members, by raising rates on everything. It used to be just members insuring members no ads needed, but not anymore. Far from the company the founders started.

Good luck with Re-Fi.

Just got 3.79% using Costco, which is actually Essex, which is actually Bank of the West. Looks like I did about as well as you can do from the replies on this thread.

I suspect you have carefully read your USAA loan agreement, but look for a provision for early payoff. They may have some penalties. Hope not!
