Refrigerator Fans
I have seen numerous posts of folks installing internal and external refrigerator fans. I assume the external helps cooling, but internal? Where are these found, how are they installed and what is used for a power source? And what would be a clue that I need one or the other? I am not aware of any issues with mine including a 30 day trip last summer.

The internal fan does several things. As long as there is not a problem with the door seals, there will be no more frost or icing on the fins and food will be at a more even temp on bottom shelf or next to fins. Veggies will also last longer. We had to readjust temp as things were to cold after adding fan - hence less run time for the cooling system. We are on the road three to four months at a time and have not had to defrost top or bottom.
On most units power for fan comes from the interior light. Fan runs 24 x 7. Ebay is a good source - look for Dometic Refrigerator Fan. Price is around $15.
Ours is on second RV and has been in use for about four years with occasional drops of oil added to keeps fans running quiet.

Thanks. Is the fan placed or pointed at anything in particular?
Does fan turn off when the fridge is off?

RV Cooling Unit Warehouse has a great unit for a fair price. We like ours!

I have been using an interior fridge fan, (similar to this one: Norcold Refrigerator Fan w on Off Switch to Increase Cooling Standard Model | eBay), for 5-6 years.
It uses 12VDC from the interior light circuit, and only runs when the refrigerator is ON, (AC or LP).
It reduces or eliminates frosting of the cooling fins, (especially in humid weather/locations). .....and it distributes the cold in the fridge uniformly throughout the box.

Great and I see on the site a picture of the installation. Just what I wanted!

Some members have wired in , computer cooling 12v fans to the fridge interior light.
I've had a battery powered ( 2x D cell ) interior fan for years but, the 1 month battery life is starting to bother me.
Oh well , another thing on the to do list.

We have used Fridge Airator - Camco 44123 - Refrigerator Accessories - Camping World for years. I like the ability to move the units around as you load the fridge. Additionally, it's easy to evaluate the operation, and a cheap fix.

When I had a Dometic NDR1292, I installed Internal and External Fans.
I used 110V thermal-controlled fans from Coolerguys.com for my rooftop exterior fans.
