Thanks for the photo, I like the clean look too. I also like the regular household valances I can take down and launder. I have family that has allergies to dust and such and I would like to eliminate as many things that could cause discomfort.

I saw a post somewhere in which a guy had removed the valences and replaced them with ones that were made from crown molding attached to the ceiling or underside of cabinets (depending where the window was). It looked very nice and should be easy to keep clean.

If you are going to rehab your current valences, be prepared to remove what seems like millions of staples. Wow, never have I seem so many staples in one place before. You need a screw driver and needle nose pliers to pull those suckers out. Gloves are a good idea too. We reupholstered the ones in our previous 5th wheel bedroom. Loved the results but not all those staples.
