Hi! The "padded stuff" is cornice boards. The help keep light from coming in above the window. Did you know you can spray paint metal and plastic venetian blinds too? I have some horrid Pink ones that will be a nice taupe when I'm done.

There are even paint kits you can buy to change the look/color of your counter tops these days.

I hated all the fabric that came with the RV! I was unaware you could change everything the way we did until we had time off the road and I started looking improvements up! All the lighting we switched too was just normal lighting bought from home depot (another thing I wasn't aware you could do). really without the help of my mom who I sent pictures of samples and fabric to nothing would have came together like it did! I found a DIY pin on pinterest of roman shades that have mini blinds attached to the back and they turned out great (Pinterest was also how i learned to do the tufted headboard) So they're attached just like normal cheap blinds. I really disliked the box valances and lambroquins or cornices whichever, I couldn't wait to get those down, its made the space look so much more open and less cluttered. I know they serve a purpose but i like it so much better without. Plus my fabric is thick enough it blocks light really well! Thank you all for all the kind words it makes all the hard work well worth it!!

This turned out beautiful! How hard was it to get the nex couch in there? That is one of my projects really soon to do. We have 2 in our RV and I want to change the one on the slide to be more of a sectional type and then remove the other one altogether and replace it with a tv stand for our flat screen. Then take that down from over the drivers chair.

I am excited to start painting the walls but will wait till spring to do that now. We will start with the valances soon though. I am still trying to decide whether to remove them and replace with curtains - either way our shades are in perfect shape so will be keeping them.

How did you prepare your walls for painting? I'm guessing you painted over the wallpaper stuff that is glued to thin wood? What brand paint and primer? Looks great! Also, how did you prepare the walls around the kitchen sink before installing the tile? Did you put the tile directly on top of the wallpaper? I'd like to do my kitchen and bath with tile in the sink area.

It wasn't hard at all to get the couch in there because the newer couches break down into pieces to get through doorways! Our who back came off and it was no problem at all to get in there! We didn't buy it through an RV dealer instead we just went to our local furniture store and bought a power reclining loveseat. It was marked down because of a tiny scratch on the back (which it's pushed up against a wall so you can't see it). I think we paid a little under 300 with taxes and everything. It was an awesome deal, especially considering all comparable ones from "RV" dealers were upwards of $1,000! We did have to get a loveseat a couch would've been too big for the space. However our loveseat was only 1 inch smaller than our RV couch was !
As for painting we wiped the walls down really well with dirtex, then sanded it medium grit (120 I believe) sandpaper. You don't want to destroy the vinyl just scuff it a little. We wiped down the walls again with a tack cloth from sherwin-williams to get the sanded dust off and then put an oil based primer on. I believe one can was from home depot but the other we got from sherwin-williams. All of our paint was from Sherwin-Williams as well. We used there Emerald line (mildew/mold resistant) latex based paint!
Then the kitchen area we had already painted and made sure all the grease was gone. We then sanded the area again and then put tile adhesive and put the tile directly on the wall! I think I got all of the questions if not post them again and I'll be sure to answer them!
