I never loan anything that I place value on to anybody (especially friends and/or family!) ... no good ever comes of it. I'd never consider offering - and would immediately re-evaluate my relationship with any friend or relative who had the balls to ask!

I'd happily invite them to join me as my guest for a weekend ... maybe even consider offering to chauffeur them for a special event in their lives. But hand over the keys and tell 'em to have a good time in MY rig? Hell would have to freeze over first!

I thought about it and then asked myself "what could possibly go wrong?"

The list of possible disasters flowed through my mind like a computer screen speeding through a massive data base. So much for that idea.

Have you made your decision yet? What was the quote for commercial insurance?

Never have in 36 years or ever would. One of the nicest things is sleeping in my bed on my pillow and getting up and using my bathroom. Wouldn't want to share with anyone other than my wife.

Just no. Insurance would be expensive I would think.

The DW got a kick out of the above entry. She says she may rent me out.

Let the bidding begin, but in the interest of full disclosure, DH has seen better days!

I don't think it has been six months ago where I saw a post about loaning a class A and toad to his father in law for a hunting trip. He got a call from his father in law that his toad was smoking and didn't have any oil left in the engine. Apparently towed it while in gear.

I owned rentals in So CA. Not RVs but sitck and brick houses. If you have ever owned rentals you would know why all the "NOs" in the previous posts. I always relay one story when people want to talk about rentals. I ask them if they know why most showers in houses are built with a "U" channel facing upward to hold the shower curtain? Many people that own homes don't know why the "U" channel faces upwards. It is a bird feeder for pet birds.

Do you like your RV? If so, forget about renting it. If you want to do that, buy one for investment (lousy idea BTW), and rent that out.

When I was looking to purchase my RV, I looked at a couple previous rentals for sale in Denver, and talk about a 2 year old RV that looks like it is 10 years old. I spent less than 5 minutes at the dealer after driving more than an hour to get there, and left thinking what a waste of time

We would not. Our insurance does not cover rentals and we would not chance going without. We have two friends who have rented theirs despite insurance issues and in both instances there were more losses than gains.

If you have to resort to renting it out for spare change then sell it. You cant afford it.

I have been in the property rental business for over 35 years, both commercial and residential. I wouldn't rent anything of mine that was my personal property. If it can be torn up, renters will sooner than later.
