Replace VCR

Our 96 Bounder has a VCR installed in a small shelf over the passenger seat. The Panasonic unit that is in there measures 14" L. x 3 1/2" H, and it fills up the hole. We would like to replace it with a VCR/DVD combo. Does anyone know of a model that will fit in the hole without me having to look at specs of every model on the market? Thanks.

There aren't that many of these combo units available anymore, VCRs have gone the way of the 8 track players. Best Buy only lists 5, a few refurbished, when searching their site for VCR DVD. The ones that had dimensions listed, (by the way you only gave 2) show about 17" wide so I guess they wouldn't fit. DVD Blue ray players are made very small now, many would fit you shelf.

I don't know where you would find a combo unit that small. A combo needs doors for both VCR and DVD and the two together take up more than 14" if side by side, and more than 3.5" if stacked.

Heck, I have an old one I would give you, but it's about 20" wide and 3-4" tall as well.

Try Amazon

try Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more

But as has already been said, they tend to be bigger.

Perhaps a VCR and a small portable DVD player would work? There are plenty of them that have video & audio outputs that you could patch into the TV
