chief02,
Have you discussed what you wanted to set up with Cliftall in a PM? If what you are trying to do is possible, he would be the man to do it. I joined the group, and now find that it is changed. I am not sure about the group thing, never did it, but like I said, if it is possible under the IRV2 rules, Clifftall would be the man to get it done.

Yes he is who set it up and said we cant be a forum. We only get a social group designation and that as such there is no separate gathering place or in-group way to communicate. Basically all we got was a designation that we all are in a common group. If you would like to contact him to see if I have misunderstood that would be great. Welcome to whatever we have going here lol. Post a bio if you like.

If I click on any of your user names, I see the same messaging options whether here or in our own group. Try it out! Click on another group member's user name and see the options presented. I'm not sure what other in group communications you might be talking about.

I started with the California Division of Forestry (now CalFire) chasing wildfires in 1976. Made the transition to municipal FD shortly there after. Did all the regimens; EMT, Paramedic, Haz-Mat Tech, fire investigator, Department training officer, Public Safety Diver (Joint Agency Dive Team Coordinator), and finally retired as a shift Battalion Chief in July of 2012. In summary; The GREATEST job in the world.

OK Bill, I broke the ice. You started this Retired Bunch of Misfits, and you have been around a while, let's hear one of your stories since being retired! Make us smile, we are counting on it.

Haha..a few car fires on the interstate...and a water skier hit by a boat prop. Femeral and brachial arteries severd. Wife drove the boat to the marina while I pinched off two arteries. Wife called 911 gave a report and requested the Air Care helo be launched. They normally won't do that on citizens request. But we had connections! Helo beat the first responders! He survived with major soft tissue and muscle reconstruction.

Thanks, Bill. You tell the story in a nonchalant manner, yet you saved a life. And your wife assisted, probably not much discussed between the two of you during the entire incident.

Thanks again for the idea of this thread, Bill!

Sounds like a great group, here is a short bio. I have been retired since 2004, after 31 years. IAFF Local 2625, in Illinois just across the Mississippi River from St Louis, Mo. Spent several years as pipeman, paramedic, worked through the ranks, retired as a Captain. Worked many jobs on off days as DW was a stay at home mom while the two daughters were young and getting ready to start school. I worked for a EONE distributor for several years as a spec and delivery specialist. I enjoyed the fire service immensely and still enjoy the comradery of the many departments that we visit while we travel the country. I was still wanting to serve the citizens of our community, so in 2005 I ran for city council and won. Still on the council, but now the Mayor. Running again in 2015, who knows might be traveling more after the election. I currently have 41 years as a public servant.

Hello, John. I have not heard the term "Pipeman" since riding tailboard in the late 70's, thanks for that memory. I belonged to Local 58 in the Dallas FD, then relocated to Local 5 with the Colorado Springs FD until retirement. The idea of this thread comes from Bill, he will welcome you soon. Glad to have you, too.

Bruce
