A while back I asked if some on here had a retirees assoc. The main reason for that was to help you possibly gauge interest for one for your Dept. We have had ours for a number of years and have a large membership, not sure of correct number but will try to find out. we have at least 3 events yearly. We have a luncheon meeting once a year and a breakfast meeting once a year. Every February we have a reunion in Fla. (even though our Dept. is in MD.). This is a four day event with golf outings, shopping trips for the wives, sightseeing trips as well as a dinner and a luncheon. There is a hospitality room for those that like to partake of an adult beverage or two. And of course there are tons of stories told (some true some not so) of firefighting, sports teams, romantic encounters, well you get the jist of it. It is a great 4 days and of course you never know which friends you may not see next year. We also allow those with 20+ years on the job to join as associate members. Just thought I would throw the idea out there for you. Plus I don't like seeing this forum go so many days without a thread.

Fraternally,

Thanks Roy..Our group isn't quite that active. We have a facebook group with "Throw-back Thursday" where we post old pictures. Many off us have moved on to other locations or like me and my wife we are full-time RVer's so facebook keeps us in touch. We are currently deep in south Texas in the Rio Grande valley for the winter.

Bill, when we had a house in South Carolina I tried to make a luncheon every once in a while and the annual reunion. Now that we are full timers i at least hope to make the reunions in Fla. Hopefully my recovery from surgery will allow me to be in Fla this coming Feb for it. We planned to be in Fla this past Thanksgiving but Doc said it was too soon after surgery. It is worth it just to see retired co-workers.

What's up brothers!?...where is everyone at? Let's get some updates. Char and I are at Bentsen Palm Village in Mission Tx. Weather has been disappointing in the RGV..rainy, cool and cloudy for 6 weeks with only 4 total days in the 70's ugh! We will head to NM March 1st for the arrival of a new grand sun. First I will have four new leaf springs installed on the 5er. Broke one on the way here. Then to AZ for the spring and search for a winter home/rv casita.

We are still in Myrtle Beach and I am still going to physical therapy. Hoping to do 3 more weeks, Doc wanted a month or more, then we should be heading to Orlando for our annual reunion for our Retirees Assoc. Then to Tampa for an Entegra owners rally. I believe it is time for me to get out of Myrtle Beach, even with as many friends as we have here.

We were in Myrtle Beach last September and October at Willow Tree RV park about 20 minutes inland from the beach. Very nice peaceful park. Good luck with your PT!

We just finished up the 2015 reunion of the Anne Arundel County MD FD in Orlando FL. Another successful get together. If any of you get to the Orlando area make a point to stop at the Orlando Fire Dept. museum. Well worth it. These guys have done a fantastic job and are justifiable proud.

Just retired

Just got back into the RV world. I Just retired after 27 yrs. on the Fire Dept. in my town. The last 8 years as Captain for Safety/Training. While retired from the FD. I still Jump at the sound of the tones dropping and always twitching when I hear the wail of the siren. I am still working the 40 hr. work week for the Commonwealth of Mass. Supervising a group home for the developmentally and medically disabled. Hanging on for another 12 years to lock in the higher pension then we will see. Still have 2 kids at home. Just bought a new camper and hope to be away almost every weekend. Maybe See ya around the campfire
