This summer we are doing a big loop, mostly the northeast. We start by visiting family in D.C. and Louisville, KY but after that it is vacation travel. Our loop will take us to NJ - DC - WV - KY - OH - PA - NY (Lake George) - VT (Lake Champlain and White Mountains) - NH - ME (entire coast from Lubec on down) - MA (Boston area to visit son and Cape Cod) - CT (visit relatives) - NJ (Home). Can't wait to hit the road. Also we will be taking our new dog, Ella, that we just rescued last week.

First solo trip will be in September to go to Camp Freightliner.
Congrats on the retirement! Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Hope you have many years to enjoy your retirement.
I retired 3 weeks ago.
We so far have taken a few short trips but looking forward to doing more.

We're retired, and working harder now than when we were working. I have a city house, a lake house and my daughter's house to keep up. And the grass and upkeep is never ending. We also will sometimes work on mission projects--building and updating houses.

In our off time, we are helping a rather needy daughter raise a 3 year old and 7 year old. Unfortunately, we cannot get away for more than 2 weeks at a time.

Congratulations on your recent retirement. It's a shame you and your wife are on different time frames. You're fortunate that you have good camping not too far away, however. We've got a fifth wheel trailer in the Blue Ridge mountains, and are weekend warriors there. Just enjoy every day of your retirement, and keep your life simple--not too many toys.

Congratulations. It sounds like a really nice trip. Safe travels.

My situation is just the opposite. The wife retired after 30 years with the Texas Legislature. I still can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. My work cuts into our time in our RV. If I didn't like my job so much, I'd probably go ahead and retire early. Six weeks of vacation will have to suffice for now. We took our 1st ever 3 week trip in APR.

Congratulations!

Your plans for the summer sound very ambitious. We've done trips like that - "if it's Tuesday, we must be at the Grand Canyon". We did something like five national parks in two weeks and at each we wished we could have stayed at least a week, or more.

I think you'll find after you've been at it a while you'll slow down a bit to savor each and every destination, but it'll be fun discovering your own retirement style.

Happy trails!

Can't wait either. About 170 more work days. Then it's off to Alaska next summer. My DW would never give up the "sticks & bricks" but will do more 2-4 week trips

Congrats and welcome to the Saturday Club - where everyday is Saturday. I retired two years ago at the age of 56 and haven't missed going to the office at all.

I'm currently having difficulty knowing what day it is. When I retired I used to get a newspaper delivered and I knew it was Sunday because the paper was larger. I no longer get the paper :(
