Retractable Tie Downs

My application is having a light MC strapped onto a Versahaul (VH55-RO) MC Carrier on the hitch. It has a wheel chock on the front and tie down eyes on the front and rear.

Hard core dirt bike enthusiasts like the ProTaper which has a soft loop eye for over the handlebar and carbiner style hooks for the tie down spots.

There are also the Erickson retractable tie downs which just have the conventional coated hooks for tie down spots but being retractable has it's advantages.

Looking for input from other MC/ATV people who use ratchets for their tie downs.

Thanks in advance...

Ron

ahhh...ok which are similar to ProTaper with the soft loop/tie. The ProTaper also uses the carbiner as opposed to the coated hook.

Thanks for your vote

Ron
I have the VH55 Versahauler too. I modified a set of standard 1" ratchet tie downs for my 150cc scooter. For the handle bars I cut the hooks off the long strap and sewed loops that are connected between the bars so they can't slip off. The rears are super short so I don't have to contend with a bunch of extra strap material. I also added a taller front wheel chock so I can drive the scooter up the ramps under power (while walking next to it) and the chock holds it upright while I attach the tie downs. I made a reinforcing bracket/structure to add capacity to the rear hitch (only #3,000) and tow my Fusion on a dolly behind my motorcoach.

I use a Versahaul with ratchet straps. I add a strong rope to each side snugged tight just in case.

Are they just generic ratchet straps......1" webbing with a coated open end hook that you pull down on?

Thanks......Ron
