Reviewing/Critique Thousand Trails Campground

Thousand Trails was purchased by ELS years ago. ELS paid off the mortgage and is now reinvesting its' money into repairs and upgrades of the campgrounds which is long overdue.
Sometimes they send you an E-survey request to get your comments, but if they don't.....

You can now report problems directly to them on line at:
Thousand Trails Survey

So if you use a TT Campground, leave your comments. Remember, the squeeky wheel gets the grease. If there is a problem, they can't fix it if they don't aren't told about it.

I looked into TT and found there are so few campgrounds across the country it's not worth the price. Example: Only 1 CG between Nashville TN and Ocala FL - a distance of 600 miles.

Any of those time-share programs are not worth the cost and maintenance unless their locations are the only ones you routinely use ALL the time.

Every time I have looked at them in the past I always come away with saving my money because their locations and partner locations are places where I have no desire to stay. Plus when I find a place that I like I don't have to up and move after being there the 2 week maximum.

We are TT zone members. Southwest and Northwest zones. Many properties available in these zones. TT can be a good deal if there are properties available where you would use them, and if you use them.

For us it works. YMMV (your mileage may vary).

I just looked at TT (Thousand Trails) and not enough CG (campgrounds) in the central and southern part of the country for me.

A possible solution for those looking for a discount camping club is Passport America [http://www.passportamerica.com/] we have been members for a year now, and have more than made our money back. Been to 6 of their camps and not a one was a stinko! (I am sure that there are though - we just have not found them yet)

when we come up for renewal again, we'll be opting for the lifetime membership - we figure this time next year THAT investment will have paid for itself!

We had a TT membership but did not renew it. Seemed like every park we went to, all the prime spaces were full of empty RVs...they had rented the space for the summer.

Information we got at an RV show this past weekend in Raleigh, is that you do not need to be a member to stay at their Encore and TT parks. Suposedly, they keep a few sites available for non members. However, I did not see a huge number of parks, so would not want to waste money on a membership.
