I am willing to gift a free AngiesList Subscription to the winner that I choose. It will be the first person to determine our next vehicle which we will be towing behind our Motorhome.

I am looking for a toad.

1. It must hold 6 people comfortably - Ages Adult, Adult, 7,6,5,0
2. It can be any year, but it needs to be flat Towable (1950's &up)
3. Must be under 4500lbs (this is the only variable that can change)

My rig can tow 10,000lbs

Again, Old is cool... as is new. We are looking and researching a car that can fit our family for a couple years while we Full Time.

You can donate the Subscription as well. I know so many will help with this without a reward, but its fun to be a winner too!

Thanks in advance

nwcanopies,

My suggestion would be to use the following web site to review all of the different Flat Towable vehicles from 2002 through current year which for now is 2010 but the 2011 issue will be posted soon.

Dinghy Towing and Dinghy Guide

They don't list all of your needs or wants but you can narrow it down using this web site and then check out each vehicles seating capacity and layout using the vehicle manufacturing web site.

Well if I read your post right you have 2 adults, 3 young children and an infant. I don't know what the cutoff age is for car seats or the law on transporting infants. You would have to look at them both to see where the kids would fit.

I believe the law says 85lbs before they escape the booster seat. So I will need 4 places for the kids car/booster seats and they cannot be in the front seat.

I would look at the Chevrolet Traverse, the GMC Acadia, and the Ford Flex. All will meet your seating requirements. The Traverse & the Acadia will weigh in 150-250 (front wheel drive) over your 4500 lbs. The Flex will weigh slightly less than the 4500 lbs. Again front wheel drive. The Flex will be the more comfortable riding of the lot and probably the ugliest. It's not too bad in a solid color but the white top over color jobs are pretty awful.

I am just doing this for fun

A Dodge Grand Caravan. Weight is 3,528 and it has three rows of seating to allow for people and cargo. You can put a hitch on it and have a hitch hauler, for larger items when you are still carrying six passengers.

I have a 1998 and get 20 - 24 MPG. I bought her in 1999 and have had no issues at all. In fact she used to tow my 18' TT. Has been VERY reliable for me.

Here's a few others...........

Mazda 5 is a six person vehicle
Nissan Pathfinder
Nissan Armada
Toyota Highlander
Toyota Sequoia
Toyota Sienna
Buick LaCrosse
Chevy Impala
Ford Crown Victoria
Honda Minivan
Dodge Durango
Ford Explorer
Ford Flex
Chevy Tahoe
Chevy Traverse

Hope I gave enough for you to look at (LOL!)

Let us know what you end up getting!

Sheila

Not sure what your willing to spend but this new Ford Flex is "Flat Towable" and can carry 7 people comfortably. It's also in your weight bracket.

The Honda Odysey prior to 2005 is flat towable. Highest rated Mini Van for years and it will seat 7 or 8, at least my daughter's will.

Really? I must be reading the wrong threads. We have a 2000 Odyssey and I thought it wasn't recommended for towing.
