A friend of ours just bought a new Monaco coach from Lazy Days. It is 45 feet in length and super nice. She is a widow and sold her house and intends to live in the MH. Has property in Florida and here in Georgia to park on when she is in this part of the country.
I was telling another friend about the coach and he tells me she cannot operate it in California due the length. I cannot believe this is true. Help me out California folks, is this guy giving me the straight story?

Well, sort of. There are significant restrictions on where she can drive - for the full story, see the CVC section especially Part 11 which talks specifically about motorhomes.

Alan:

Interesting...I wonder how you would know if you're on a route that's DOT certified, or even better- one that's NOT?

Well, if you're on an Interstate highway, you're good. If you're on an "official" truck route, you're good.

Anywhere else, I guess it's up to the local constabulary whether or not you get pulled over...if they even know!
