What is a good way (if any) to protect your rig from the effects of road salt? I at times would like to take my camper out for a weekend but hate what the salt does to any exposed surfaces. Scotty.

Scotty,
I'm not sure there is any protection. High-pressure washing may help but even that won't get it all out of every nook and cranny, if they're putting down salt its to cold to wash anyway.
I just park my truck in the garage at first sign in fall and she doesn't come out until spring. Every now and then I go out and pet her fender under the cover.

I'm all for moving south for the winter unfortunatly my wallet isnt.

Here is tip I learned from the Maintenance staff at Cape Lookout National Seashore. As is ussually the case, these guy are locals, life long residents of the Outer Banks and have been using this for years to protect everything from construction equipment to boat trailers,from the corrosion that comes from living within fifty miles of a seacoast.
Mix a quart of boiled linseed oil with a gallonof diesel fuel. When you get home from one of your trips, spray off(with water) the part(s) in question. Then using a spray bottle, coat the surface with the solution.
