Roll out canopy on top of slide out

Canopy needs replaced. I see bolts to get roll unit down. Have no idea what I am doing. Any suggestions on replacement welcomed. Thank you!

Sounds like you would be much better off to get someone else with experience to do the job for you. The slide out "toppers" are spring loaded and can be VERY DANGEROUS if you don't know and follow proper safety procedures! It is not a matter of simply removing and replacing bolts.

I replaced ours two or three years ago. Wasn't sure of the procedure so i went to youtube for help. Turned out to be a fairly easy job but like WeBeFulltime stated, you have to watch what you're doing.

This one was helpful to me...

I replaced all of my slide toppers in a Campsite last year in Florida. Any YouTube that I saw was not the correct way to do it. Go the the manufactures website of your awning and they will have instructions on how to replace your toppers. On my Carefree toppers you have to insert a cotter pin to lock the roller. I had StoneVos cut and sew my toppers and I did the installation. I did one every day. You will need at least one ladder though.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I would call Chris at Stone Vos, 352-942-0224. He has the best quality fabric and will point you to the correct video to replace your slide topper. You may need to take a pic to send to him for identification.

As others have mentioned, it can be dangerous because of the heavy tension spring, so it would be wise to find someone in your area that can help you!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Be careful when replacing any kind of spring loaded awning or slide topper. I have a friend who lost an eye when the slide topper arm slipped, spun around and took out his eye.
