Rubber roof coating

Is it ok to paint on a coat of rubber roof coating on a rv rubber roof to prevent leaking and seal cracks or is there a specific brand that should be used? Thanks

Is the roof peeling all over or just around seams, vents, skylights, antennas etc? If the latter you can use Dicor caulking. Eternabond tape can be used for somewhat larger areas.

You can use Eternabond tape to fix the seams or use some caulking. If you use caulking then DO NOT use silicone caulking. Silicone just does not stay flexible and will crack and pull away from where you put it as you move down the road.
As for putting on another roof there are some that have done it. You can use something from an RV store but you will pay more than if you go to Lowe's or Home Depot. Just ask them what to use for a rubber roof but don't say anything about RVs as that throws them off. Some have used the same stuff as the stuff for truck beds, not sure the names of that stuff thou. People have used a few different things. Some do it them selves and some pay others to do it.

Look up "Roof repair" in the search box up top and you will see lots of posts about it.

"... to prevent leaking and seal cracks ..."

If the roof is in such shape it has developed cracks, then you may need more than just a coating. Shame to throw money away on something that might not solve the problem.

the small cracks are along the seams, not out on the roof.

If you choose to paint on a coating, use one designated for EPDM rubber roofs and preferably an RV specific product such as Kool Seal RV or Dicor Rubber Roof Coat. But you probably don't need a coating unless the EPDM material itself has deteriorated to the point where the woven backing is showing.

For cracks along the seams and around openings, use an EPDM lap sealant (such as Dicor lap sealant) or Eternabond tape. The tape can be awkward to apply over existing bumpy caulk, so the lap sealant is a better choice if you don't want to remove or smooth the surface. But the Eternabond will last longer and work better on flexing joints like the seam between front or rear cap and main roof area.
