If you are considering the CoPilot for RVs app read posts and 10 and 14 in this thread Rand McNally RV GPS

I bought it to compare to the old Rand McNally app. For the price it's ok but not very polished. But then again its $60.00, dedicated GPS units are $300.00 and Rand does not offer their app anymore.

I would not trust any of the gps units alone. They have sent me in strange routes and turns. Always start with paper atlas maps, move to Google maps and then gps if desired. I really like seeing my next dayís route in detail opposed to some voice telling me turn by turn. In practice Google maps directions do a good in most locations in the western US. Never traveled in the east yet. Probaly get a new Gatmin 770 then.

I am a trucker for many years (now semi retired, no pun intended) so I have countless hours of hand on experience in GPS navigation. I still prefer to use the trucker version Garmin device, as it allows me the option of selecting truck friendly routing, as my Class A / tandem axle trailer combo is about 57 feet overall, this is a significant helpful feature. You can enter in the overall height of your RV (in settings) and that will assist you in avoiding low clearance bridges, etc. It is essential to note, however, no GPS is totally "fool proof" . It is up to the driver to detect and avoid low clearance and weight limits, etc. to remain legal and safe. If your GPS did not indicate an obstacle ahead, you are still at fault if you should ever hit one.
I like the Garmin 570 LMT For myself. I avoid the ones with screens larger than 5 inch, so my vision through the windshield is less obstructed. Just need to create a way to mount it so it in near enough to my position in the driver's seat. No suction cups on the glass for me. Also, I always mute the irritating voice feature. Just go into settings on the unit..
Good Luck to You

I bought the Garmin RV 770 LMT-S. Planned out a trip to Gaffney and NC and back to FL. Worked very well. I used the locator to find a Walmart Super Center and Pilot stations. Great GPS. I look forward to many years using it.
